Updates and key information on the response to the COVID-19 Outbreak at Errinrung Retirement Community
Our Errinrung long-term care and retirement home located in Thornbury, Ontario is in a confirmed COVID-19 outbreak as one of our staff members has tested positive for the virus. The staff member is currently isolating and recovering at home.
We are testing our staff members every week at this home. With community spread still being a major concern, this regular testing will help us detect new positive staff or asymptomatic staff early and help us limit the risk of transmission to residents they are coming in to care for.
We are working closely with Public Health, with our Medical Director and with Extendicare’s Infection Prevention and Control specialists and are following their directives. As well, our enhanced infection prevention and control measures remain in place such as symptom screening our residents and team members twice daily, terminal cleaning of high-touch surfaces, ensuring that all our staff are wearing masks and personal protective equipment and revisiting our infection prevention and control protocols to ensure they are being religiously followed. We are also hiring more staff to help ensure that we can uphold the high standard of care we are proud of providing to our residents.
